Client Server Architecture

Client Server Architecture is a process involving a minimum of two independent entities, one is the client and the other is the server. The client makes the request and the server services the request and the resulting data is sent to the client. In the application two separate applications operating independently could work together to complete the task. The well brought out implementation of this concept is the SQL based Data Based Management System. Instructions are communicated to an application running on the server and the server executes those requests and sends the response to the client. A request may take the form of a SQL query submitted to the SQL database engine. The database engine in turn processes the request and the result set is sent to the client. Thus two independent processes work together to accomplish a task and exemplifies the client server relationship. The client server architecture is based basically on the principles of request and response. A client is the system that makes the request to the server pertaining to the access of certain resources available only with the server. This request is taken up by the server and the processing is done by the server .the server sends back the response to client.A client system need not have any resources like hard disk for storing lots of data etc. It just requires to send in the required data to server in the form of a Request and get the • Response from the server. • A Server is the system where all the data storage, processing and resources are stored in client server architecture.
