Software (Definition): Computer Software contains programs that executes with in a computer of any size and architecture, documents, of all forms and data/information combining numbers, text, graphics, pictures, video and audio. Software Characteristics: The essence of software is it’s ability to activate a device or a system to produce specified outcome. Not Physical / Concrete Not Energy in any form – Electricity, Light, Sound, Heat… SAD (System Analysis & Design): The System Analysis & Design refers to the process of examining a business situation with the intent of improving it through better procedures and methods. 1. System Analysis 2. System Design System Analysis: Process of gathering and interpreting facts, diagnosing problems and using the information to recommend improvements. System Design: A “How-to” approach to the creation of a new system. System Analyst : The System Analyst studies the problem and needs of an organization to determine how people, data, process, communications, and information technology can best accomplish improvements for the business. The System analyst is basically a problem solver. Problem-Solving Approach: 1. Identify the problem 2. Analyze and understand the problem 3. Identify solution requirements or expectations 4. Identify alternative solution and decide a course of action 5. Design and implement the “best” solution 6. Evaluate the results. If the problem is not solved return to step 1 or 2.
